Thinking about including toddlers in your newborn session but nervous about how it will go? Here are some tips to relieve your nerves!
First of all, remember that we are moms! We have six kids combined, and our kids have a whole variety of personalities. Nothing surprises us. On the contrary, you will most likely hear us tell a story or two about our newborn and toddler mom days! Also remember, including toddlers often means they act out in the places you least want them to. It’s okay, we don’t get rattled and we will take their lead.
We structure our sessions to get the family/siblings photos out of the way. We work quickly after the little ones warm up, ensuring that we get our most important shots first and before any meltdowns.
Bring snacks and some pre-loaded shows on your phone. It’s amazing what a little Bluey, Mickey, or Cocomelon can do when we hold a phone behind the camera! And some favorite non-staining snacks like puffs, Goldfish or fruit snacks are great between shots.
Enjoy this sweet newborn session of Maeve and her big sister, Rosemary! Fun fact: we did Ro’s newborn photos 2 years ago 🙂 Ro did amazing, and she loved her Bluey and snack breaks! We worked at her pace, and adjusted a few poses so she felt in control. What a great big sister she is! After her portion was done, we worked with Maeve on her wrapped session. She was an awesome sleeper, and she did such a great job settling into different poses at three weeks old.
